Candidates in contested races for the Feb. 2 primary have spent thousands of dollars on their campaigns, according to campaign finance reports released to the State Board of Elections last week.
Any state or local candidate who raises or spends more than $3,000 within a 12-month period must file fundraising figures with the state. They can file their paperwork online or at their local county clerk's office.
Candidates had to submit semi-annual campaign finance reports to the State Board of Elections by Jan. 20. The reports reflect the period between July 1 and Dec. 31 of last year.
Also, candidates are required to report individual contributions of $500 or more in the 30 days prior to the Feb. 2 election.
No reports were filed for county candidates, including Kendall County Board and the offices of sheriff, clerk, and treasurer, which are all on the primary ballot.
The candidates listed are Republicans in contested primary state representative and state Senate races, and those in the contested Republican primary race for Kendall County judge in the 16th Judicial Circuit.
The receipts and expenditure totals only reflect the reporting period until Dec. 31. The donors with the largest contributions to their respective candidates are also listed.
