All they need now is a Dalmatian

What we like best about the new Oswego Fire Protection District Station No. 1 at 3511 Woolley Road is the stone and red brick facade, the bright red doors over the equipment bays and the replica bell tower. Stand out on Woolley Road in front of the station and you can easily imagine a bell clanging in the tower and teams of horses pulling steam powered-pumpers out of the equipment bays on their way to another fire.
Clearly, the architectural design of the 40,000 square foot, $9.5 million facility respects the many traditions of the fire service.
Inside, of course, the building is strictly modern with living quarters for full-time paramedic/firefighters, training rooms and the district's administrative offices.
The spacious building-which is being paid for from the district's ambulance service revenues-will likely meet the agency's facility needs for decades to come.
Area residents will have a chance to get a close-up look at the station this Sunday, Oct. 25 when the fire district will host a community open house from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. We encourage area residents to attend the event so they can get an up close look at this traditional yet state of the art facility.
