Seasons Ridge work expected next month

Several streets in Montgomery's Seasons Ridge Subdivision should receive a fresh coat of asphalt next month.

In a unanimous ballot this past week, the village board adopted a resolution authorizing the use of state-reimbursed Motor Fuel Tax (MT) funds to resurface Seasons Ridge Boulevard between Briarcliff Road and Douglas Road, Winter Hill Circle, and Edgewater, High Point and Winter Hill courts.

Mike Pubentz, the village's director of public works, said the village will seek contractor bids for the project pending a final approval by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).

Pubentz said he expects construction will start in August.

Pubentz noted the village is proposing to spend a total of $909,280 in MFT revenues for the current fiscal year that began May 1.

In a memo to the board, Pubentz noted that according to current estimates, the village will spend just over $664,000 for street resurfacing and patching, $84,840 for engineering services and approximately $160,000 to purchase salt for spreading on local streets this winter.

When questioned by Village President Matt Brolley, Pubentz confirmed that he expects the village will spend all of the funds in its MFT account this fiscal year.

"Most people would consider that a good thing. You don't want a lot of MFT funds sitting in your account. The idea is you take those funds and get them out on the street, which is what we are doing," he said.
