Hultgren, Foster should visit here
6/5/2014

Kendall County has two representatives in Congress: U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren, R-Winfield, and U.S. Rep. Bill Foster, D-Naperville.

Hultgren, Foster and the other members of the current Congress will be in session through July 31, then will have the opportunity to return to their respective districts for August and the first week of September.

We received notice last week that representatives from Hultgren's Geneva office will be at Oswego Village Hall on Tuesday, June 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to meet with area residents. That's a good first step, but we're hopeful that Hultgren and Foster will choose to show up in person here this summer and host some local town hall meetings. Certainly local residents deserve the opportunity to meet and question both lawmakers.

The last time Hultgren held a town hall meeting in Kendall County was two years ago when he presided at one in Oswego and another in Yorkville. Since returning to Congress in January of 2013, Foster has not hosted any town hall meetings.

Perhaps the looming Nov. 4 election will prompt the Congressmen to make some local visits. We would think Foster would be especially interested in meeting with local residents since he represents a potential swing district in the fall election, while Hultgren represents a solidly Republican district.
