No change in park district board leadership
Mattingly re-elected board president; Krahn to remain as board vice president

by Lyle R. Rolfe

Bob Mattingly will serve another year as president of the five-member Oswegoland Park District Board.

Mattingly was re-elected to his position by his board colleagues during an organizational meeting held last Thursday.

Board member Dave Krahn was also re-elected as vice president; executive secretary Cindy Benson was elected to serve as board secretary; and Nancy Woods, the park district's finance director, was retained as board treasurer.

All officials were re-elected in unanimous ballots.

In other business Thursday, the board retained Ancel, Glink, Diamond, Bush, DiCianni and Krafthefer of Naperville as the agency's law firm and retained Sikich, Inc. as their auditor.

Mike Fee and Chad Feldotto were reappointed as coordinators of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Mattingly, Benson and Rich Zielke, executive director, were kept as Open Meetings Act designees, Zielke and Benson were also retained as Freedom Of Information Act Officer.

In the past the board has had committees for Buildings and Grounds, Finance, Natural Resources, Personnel, and Fox Bend Golf Course, with two or three of the five board members serving on each.

But Mattingly recommended that all of the committees be included in the committee of the whole on which all board members serve. So rather than having individual committee meetings, all five trustees will serve on the committee of the whole and attend these meetings.

Board members also approved their meeting calendar through December. The regular meeting dates are the third Thursday of each month with some exceptions.

There will not be a regular June meeting, but there will be a workshop with the date and time to be set, Mattingly said.

So the remaining meeting dates for this year are July 17, Aug. 21, Sept. 18, Oct. 16, Nov. 20, and Dec. 18.

All meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room at the South Point Center, 810 Preston Lane, Oswego, and are open to the public. South Point is connected to Southbury Elementary School at 820 Preston Lane.

On recommendation of Woods, finance director, the board listed all Oswego banks as depositories for district funds.

The last actions taken were to schedule reviews of all executive session minutes at the March and September board meetings to determine which minutes, if any, can be made public and to designate the Ledger-Sentinel as the newspaper of record for publication of the district's legal notices.
