All six victims in a shooting on Montgomery's near east side have been released from the hospital, according to village police.

Meanwhile, police say they are continuing their investigation into the shooting that occurred early Sunday at a residence in the 1300 block of Jackson Street just north of Wabansia Avenue.

"This is an active, pending investigation," said Police Chief Daniel Meyers, confirming that that police believe the incident to be gang-related.

Police were summoned to the Jackson Street residence at 12:30 a.m. on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, they located the shooting victims in and around the garage area of the residence.

A total of five of the victims were transported by paramedic firefighters to Aurora hospitals, police said.

A friend transported a sixth shooting victim to the hospital, according to police.

Police said four males and two females, all in their 20s, were shot.

Meyers said Tuesday evening the victims suffered graze wounds to either the lower extremities or to the head.

"We are very fortunate that no was killed in this incident," he said.

While investigating the crime scene, police recovered shell casings and say they are now are seeking a black in color SUV that may have been involved in the incident.

Meyers added that the SUV may also have gold trim accent paint.

Assisting village police at the crime scene and with the continuing investigation are personnel from the Aurora Police Department, Kane County Major Crimes Task Force and Kane County Office of Emergency Management.

Police ask that anyone with information concerning the shooting to contact the Aurora Area Crime Stoppers or the village police department at 630-897-8707, ext. 3300.
