Shooting investigation continues
Boulder Hill man, two juveniles face charges

Montgomery Police are continuing their investigation into a drive-by shooting that occurred Feb. 11 in the 2800 block of Frances Lane on the village's far west side.

Police Chief Daniel Meyers said Tuesday police have stepped up their patrols on Frances Lane.

Meyers also confirmed the shooting was gang-related.

Police arrested three suspects in the incident shortly after the shooting occurred at 7:43 a.m. in the Lakewood Creek West Subdivision.

Police identified one of the suspects as Saul Muro, 18, of the 0-100 block of Durango Road, Boulder Hill.

Police are withholding the names of the two other suspects because they are juveniles.

Muro faces charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, according to police.

Police said Muro is being held in the Kendall County jail in Yorkville pending court proceedings.

Police said one of the juveniles also resides in Boulder Hill and is facing a charge of unlawful contact with a gang member.

In addition, police said the juvenile was wanted on a juvenile parole violation warrant issued previously by the Illinois Department of Correction's Juvenile Justice program. The juvenile was transported to the Illinois Youth Center in St. Charles pending court proceedings.

The second juvenile, who resides in Aurora, faces a charge of aggravated discharge of a firearm. Police said the juvenile was transported to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center in Geneva.

No one was hurt in the shooting, which occurred at 7:43 a.m. Feb. 11. Frances Lane is located about one-quarter mile south of U.S. Route 30 in the Lakewood Creek West Subdivision.

After the shots were fired at the home, police said a resident of the home pursued the suspects' vehicle to the area of Ill. Route 31 and Route 30 where the two vehicles crashed into each other. One of the two vehicles then drove on to the area of Albright Road and Baseline Road, according to police.

Shortly after 8 a.m. police had apprehended the three suspects.

Incendiary device
tossed near driveway

In a second incident in the 2800 block of Frances Lane this week, police said a flammable homemade incendiary device was thrown toward a driveway of a residence near the street Sunday at approximately 11:35 p.m.

The residence was the same residence that was struck by gunfire in the Feb. 11 drive-by shooting, according to police.

Police said firefighters and police were summoned to the residence on a report of a possible arson.

A resident found a wine bottle with a partial burnt rag in the driveway near the street, police said.

Police collected the bottle and a rag for evidence purposes. The items will be sent to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab for processing. No injuries or property damage was reported, police said.

Witnesses are encouraged to call the Montgomery Police Department 630-897-8707, ext. 3300 or the Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000 with information.
