After a two week break, the Oswego-Oswego East boys' swimming and diving team competed at Waubonsie Valley's Aqua Pentathlon last Saturday in Aurora.

The result for the squad was a sixth-place finish. They ended up with 18,385 points at the eight-team event. U-High won with a score of 21,141, followed by Plainfield's co-op (20,018), Waubonsie Valley (19,442), Champaign (19,114) and Cary-Grove (18,600). Naperville North went seventh with 14,163 and West Aurora was eighth at 12,484.

"I thought we were right in it," Oswego-Oswego East head coach Deryl Leubner said. "Toward the last event, we were just points out of third place and had the chance to move up."

Five Oswego-Oswego East swimmers each competed in five different events. Quinn Parlier was the team's top finisher, as he posted the best time in four of the five events.

"He had a great meet," Leubner said of Parlier. "He's done well this season, considering how late the football season went (he also played football at Oswego, which advanced to the quarterfinals) and how late he was getting in the water. He did a nice job."

In the 50-yard freestyle, Parlier clocked in a 22.26, followed by Tyler Guist (24.12), Rhys Johanns (24.35), Cody Padlo (24.91) and Michael Latzke (26.30).

In the 100-yard butterfly, Parlier finished in 56.66, Guist 59.71, Padlo 1:02.34, Johanns 1:02.80 and Latzke 1:10.64.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Parlier clocked in at 56.63, Guist 58.37, Johanns 1:03.57, Padlo 1:07.90 and Latzke 1:09.67.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Parlier finished in 1:06.95, Guist 1:11.81, Padlo 1:16.16, Johanns 1:20.53 and Latzke 1:22.43.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Guist led the way in 1:51.87, followed by Parlier in 1:52.76, Johanns 2:03.06, Padlo 2:03.37 and Latzke 2:05.07.

The team was scheduled to compete in the first Independent Conference meet of the season at DeKalb on Tuesday, but due to the frozen weather conditions, it was postponed. The rescheduled date and time was not available at press time. Leubner is not sure this event will be rescheduled, but either way, the conference season is looming.

"The conference is probably the best its been in years," Leubner said. "It might be rough and definitely a challenge."

Oswego-Oswego East's next conference outing is at home on Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Riverside-Brookfield.

There are two meets scheduled for Jan. 18. Hinsdale Central is hosting a Diving Invite at 8:30 a.m. and Riverside-Brookfield is hosting a swim meet at noon.

The team will resume conference action against Plainfield's co-op at home at 5 p.m. on Jan. 21.
