Time for new signs
We were pleased to see the Village of Oswego's proposed new 2013-14 fiscal year budget includes funds to replace and, in some cases, relocate the community entrance signs that now greet motorists entering the village along some roads and highways.
The current signs were installed in 1989 and have badly deteriorated. In addition, since the village's boundaries have drastically changed over the past two decades, some of the signs are no longer located near entrance points to the community.
The village should purchase new signs that feature the current village logo and have them installed at the village's current entranceways.
The signs are a comparatively small, yet important purchase since they serve to alert passing motorists they are entering the community while at the same time helping to bolster the village's identity and image.
