The Oswego wrestling team had an opportunity to step onto its own mats for the first time in a month, hosting the Orange and Blue Mega Duals last Saturday.

With six teams participating, Oswego met Naperville North, Lincoln-Way East and Stagg on the mat and finished 1-2 on the day with three undefeated wrestlers.

Sophomore Andrew McFall and junior Nick Schultz went 3-0 while sophomore Jack Pradel finished 2-0 in addition to one win by forfeit.

"McFall and Schultz wrestled well over the weekend," Oswego head coach Andrew Cook said. "Andrew beat a good kid from Lincoln-Way East. He has been wrestling awesome. Nick did the same and he has been working hard."

Oswego (7-6) opened the morning against Naperville North and lost 40-21. McFall won by pin in 42 seconds at 106 while Jack Pradel won a 9-2 decision at 120 and Schultz won by pin in 5:35 for the victory at 126. Senior Max Larsen was also a winner at 170, pinning his opponent in 4:39.

Lincoln-Way East defeated Oswego 37-28, but the Panthers won at seven weight classes.

McFall won a 5-1 decision, freshman Blake Huffmon won a 7-1 decision at 113 and Jack Pradel won by pin in 3:57. Schultz won a 5-2 decision and junior Nick Aguirre won a 14-0 major decision at 138.

Senior Bo Pradel won a 9-1 major decision at 152 while senior Max Hively pinned his 195-pound opponent in 3:29.

Oswego closed out the day with a 54-24 win over Stagg after the Chargers forfeited 18 points to the Panthers. McFall won by pin in 1:22 and Huffmon won a 2-1 decision while Schultz won by pin in 1:27.

Aguirre won by pin in 3:13 and freshman Victor Aguirre won a 4-0 decision at 145. Larsen won by pin in 2:59, senior Adrian Herrera won by pin in 4:44 at 182 and Hively won by pin in 1:59.

Lincoln-Way East went 3-0 on the day, defeating Naperville North, which went 2-1. Palatine also finished 2-1 with a loss to Naperville North. Streamwood also participated.

Oswego will enter the Lockport Mega Dual on Saturday at 9 a.m. before returning to Southwest Prairie Conference action for the first time since Dec. 14, with a rescheduled meet at Plainfield North on Wednesday before visiting Romeoville on Thursday, Jan. 17.

"We have been focused on peaking at the right time," Cook said. "We are in our home stretch. The OPRF tournament will be a great measuring stick to see where we are at going to the SPC tournament."
