Oswego resident Greg Houk and his father purchased Chicago Bears season tickets for the 1970-71 season for just seven dollars.
Forty-two seasons later, Houk had an unexpected visitor at his door.
George Halas McCaskey, Chairman for the Board of the Chicago Bears, paid a visit to Houk in Oswego on July 12 to personally deliver his 2012-13 season tickets, which he shares with his father, Ed Houk of Aurora. Greg had a camera handy, and captured a photo of himself with McCaskey.
"The picture is priceless," Houk said. "It is to me.
"He was there for me with about 20 minutes and we talked. ... I asked him to go to lunch and his response was that he'd love to, but he had to make more deliveries."
His seats are located in the south end zone, in Row 12 - the same place they've been since 1970.
"Same spot since the new stadium was built," Houk said. "It changed a little, but not that much. Row 1 starts eight feet up. I've never chosen to change the tickets, and I've certainly had ample opportunity over the years. I like the vantage point."
Houk follows the Bears throughout the offseason and will attend one preseason game before the season kicks off Sept. 9 at Soldier Field against the Indianapolis Colts.
"My son goes and my daughter goes, and friends," Houk said. "After all these years we've only made money on two tickets."
The Chicago Bears will make their first road trip in Week 2, traveling to Green Bay - and despite his Wisconsin roots, Houk will be rooting for the Monsters of the Midway.
"I was raised in Wisconsin, so I'm a Packer/Bears fan unless the Bears are playing the Packers. Then I'm a Bears' fan," Houk said.
