After winning two consecutive shutouts filled with goals, the Oswego East girls' soccer team dropped two close games in the past week.

On April 12, the Wolves fell to Minooka, 3-1, in a Southwest Prairie Contest. On Saturday, in the first game of Lake Park's tournament, Oswego East lost to the host Lancers, 3-2.

The Wolves improved to 4-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference after Tuesday's 4-1 win over Plainfield East.

In the game against Minooka, with 24:55 left in the first half, the Wolves fouled the Indians in the goalie box that gave them a penalty kick that put them up 1-0.

Junior Anida Phetchanpheng tied the game on an unassisted goal with 7:17 left in the first half.

Both goals in the second half were scored by Minooka. The first goal was with 18:19 left on the clock and the last one with 3:59 left in the game.

Junior Megan Moran played goalie for the Wolves in place of Alysen Newton. Moran tallied three saves.

"We came out in the first half with a lot of control," Oswego East head coach Lauren Anderson said. "We just didn't play good soccer in the second half."

Against Lake Park, Oswego East lost a well-fought game. The Lancers started off the scoring with 33:13 left of the first half. Oswego East answered back with an unassisted goal from Phetchanpheng with 8:04 left in the first half.

Senior midfielder and Roosevelt-bound Carli Schlaker scored off a cross from junior midfielder Megan Ross to give the Wolves their last goal with 10:23 left of the second half. With 9:21 left in the second half, Lake Park scored another goal to tie the game up 2-2 and then scored the winning goal with 7:37 left. Moran finished with six saves.

Oswego East was missing three starters, including Newton, due to ACT testing.

"We've been struggling to play good soccer," Anderson said. "We finally did, but the end result didn't come out in our favor."

On Tuesday against Plainfield East, Phetchanpheng scored with 32:48 left in the first half off an assist from Brittany Brewer to put the Wolves ahead 1-0.

With 2:14 remaining in the first half, Plainfield East tied the game.

Schlaker earned the next goal off a cross from Ross. Schlaker was challenging the Plainfield East goalie, causing the goalie to drop the ball and lead to the Wolves' winning goal.

Shortly after, Maddie Aubuchon scored off a Brewer assist with 21:34 left in the second half.

Freshman Miranda Lambert finished the Wolves' goal scoring with a shot in the upper right corner of the net with 6:10 remaining.

Newton had nine shots against her with eight saves.

The Wolves go back to Lake Park's tournament today, Thursday, for a 4:30 p.m. contest with Wheeling. They head back to Roselle on Saturday for another game. Time of game and opponent is to be determined.

On Monday, Oswego East will play West Aurora on the road for a 6:30 p.m. game.
